Halloween 2009

Back in the day, children dressed up in costumes and knocked on doors begging for candy.  Now what do they do?  Two years in a row, not a single trick or treater!  I had no definite plans myself, so no costume, but I went to a rent party for my housemate's friend, who was evicted recently.

Banjo player.  An accordion player also played on this stage.


 I can't remember the name of this band, but I like them 
because the drummer reminds me of a good friend.
My friend has no tramp stamps and is a better drummer, though.

    The man had a junkyard, JennyMac, and the landlord decided to evict him and sell the property. Through the years, Bill the junk man has supported many local artists, and this benefit was also a way for his contributions to be recognized. Thanks for visiting!

    This is so surreal - while here in Germany the trick-or-treaters get more every year they are vanishing in the US? Where it all came from? (I read your comment on AB's blog btw).

    It depends on the neighborhood, I think, Martina, but there are definitely areas where the number of children trick or treating is down.

    We have adopted so many traditions from Europe here, I thought Halloween was one until last year! My significant other (who is in Germany) lamented the fact that American television was making German children want to don costumes and go out to beg for candy on Halloween!

    Argh, why is it that the first time I click "Post Comment" to post a comment I get a message that says "Your request could not be processed. Please try again." And then it works the second time. It does this with Google Chrome, Firefox and Safari (the first two on Windows and the last two on a Mac).

    Your SO is totally right. It just a big commercial show introduced by movies and TV, has never been a real tradition around here.
